Bangladesh's Under-19 World Cup triumph, 2020

In Potchefstroom in February 2020, Akbar Ali's team beat India to win Bangladesh's first ICC world title.

Bangladesh reached the final of the 2020 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa unbeaten in the knockout stages. In the final at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, on 9 February, the bowlers restricted defending champions India to 177. The chase wobbled, but captain Akbar Ali batted through with a calm unbeaten 43 and Bangladesh won by three wickets under the rain rule. Players from that squad, including Shoriful Islam, Towhid Hridoy and Mahmudul Hasan Joy, later played for the senior team.
