Mohammad Ashraful's record Test century
In September 2001 in Colombo, 17-year-old Mohammad Ashraful became the youngest man to score a Test century.
Mohammad Ashraful made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, in September 2001. In the second innings he scored 114 at the age of 17 years and 61 days, breaking the record for the youngest Test centurion. Ashraful went on to captain Bangladesh and played several memorable innings, including a century against Australia in the 2005 NatWest Series at Cardiff that helped Bangladesh to a famous win. His career later ended under a ban for corruption, a reminder of the game's integrity rules.
