Jaflong and the Piyain river

Near the Indian border in Sylhet, Jaflong is known for clear river water, stones carried down from the hills and tea gardens.
Jaflong lies in Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet, where the Piyain river flows out of the Meghalaya hills into Bangladesh. The view of hills rising across the border, with clear water running over stones, has made it one of the country's most visited places. The area is also home to Khasi villages and betel-leaf gardens. Stone collection from the riverbed has long provided work but has damaged the landscape, and authorities have tried to limit it to protect the river.
