Bangla rock and the band scene

From Azam Khan in the 1970s to LRB, Miles and Warfaze, band music became the sound of Bangladesh's youth.
After independence, freedom fighter and singer Azam Khan led a new kind of Bangla pop and rock, earning the title Pop Samrat. Through the 1980s and 1990s bands such as Feedback, Miles, Souls, Warfaze, LRB with Ayub Bachchu and Nagar Baul with James filled concert halls and cassette shops. The Bangladesh Musical Bands Association helped organise the scene, and open-air concerts drew huge crowds. Many of these songs are still sung today, and a new generation of bands continues the tradition.
