Bangla Academy
Founded in 1955 as an outcome of the Language Movement, Bangla Academy guides Bangla spelling and organises the Ekushey Book Fair.
Bangla Academy was established on 3 December 1955 at Burdwan House in Dhaka, a demand that grew out of the 1952 Language Movement. Its purpose is to research, promote and develop the Bangla language, literature and culture. The Academy publishes dictionaries, grammars and literary works, sets standard spelling rules, and presents the Bangla Academy Literary Award. Every February it hosts the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, one of the largest book fairs in the region.
